Edgar H. Keller, 85, of Maplewood died on Saturday, April 4, 2009 in Morristown Memorial Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Wednesday, April 8, at 1 p.m. Interment will be private. Visiting hours are Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences please visit jacobhollefuneral home.com. Born in West New York, N.J., Mr. Keller lived in Maplewood for over 60 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was the owner and president since 1986 of George Jaekel Inc. in Union, a family fuel oil business since 1897. Mr. Keller was past president of the Essex-Union Fuel Oil Dealers. He was an avid barbershopper for over 40 years, 35 of which were spent singing bass with the comedy quartet, the Note Wits. He also won the first SPEBSQSA International Seniors Quartet Championship with the George Baggish Quartet in Tucson, Ariz., in 1986. Mr. Keller was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Bette Jaekel Keller; devoted father of Steven E., Diane E., Gary E., Bruce E., Douglas E. Keller, Catherine E. Denner and Faith E. MacDonnell; also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
