Ruth Mayer Skarbek Lifelong Maplewood Resident Ruth Lillian Skarbek (nee Mayer) of Maplewood, peacefully entered into eternal rest at home on Aug. 12, 2009. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood, on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Newark on Aug. 28, 1932 to William B. and Lillian Mayer (nee Mueller), Mrs. Skarbek lived in Maplewood for 74 years. A lifelong devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Mrs. Skarbek served as a choir member, eucharistic minister, lector, bingo worker and on numerous committees and organizations. She was also the Archdiocesan coordinator for the Girl Scouts at St. Joseph's and president of the Rosary Confraternity. For the last eight years she worked in the parish Religious Education Office. Mrs. Skarbek was a member of the Maplewood Women's Club for over 50 years, serving as president of the Junior Women's Club and as chairman of the Evening Membership Department. Her husband of 42 years, Henry F.J. Skarbek Jr., predeceased her. She is survived by her children, Joseph D. Skarbek and wife, Stacie, Timothy M. Skarbek and wife, Melissa, and Margaret Stefandl and husband, Walter, and by her sister, Grace Bishe. She was also a devoted grandmother to Katrina Henning, Michael Skarbek, Clara Skarbek, Heidi Stefandl and Nathan Skarbek. In lieu of flowers, donations to Susan G.
