Mario D. Dacosta, 41, of Maplewood, formerly of New York City, died on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 4 p.m. Interment is private. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Mr. Dacosta lived in New York City before moving to Maplewood two years ago. He was a truck driver for Metropolitan Transportation Co., the Bronx, N.Y., from 2008 to 2009. He also worked for various painting companies over 20 years, including six years with his own company, Interior Building Services in New York City, and for England Trucking Co., Salt Lake City. Mr. Dacosta was a body builder in high school, and he continued a vigorous workout routine throughout his life.
He was the beloved husband of Wanda Perez Dacosta; devoted son of Pamala Dacosta; loving father of Christina Dacosta; dear brother of Marlon Dacosta and his wife, Michelle, Cheryl Monteith and her husband, Garth, and Esmie Dacosta, and dear uncle of Ashly, Shawn, Jordan, Nicholas, Malik, Malaki, Matthew, and Raheem.
