On Wednesday, February 10, 2010 Arthur L. Brown, Jr. of Maplewood. Passed away after a long battle with cancer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Monday, February 15, at 10:30 AM. Interment Private. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange, on Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Arthur Brown was born and raised in Orange, NJ. He graduated from Upsala State College and was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. In 1968, he joined Orange Savings Bank which later became Hudson City Savings Bank. He worked 42 years and retired in 2009. Mr. Brown was involved in many civic and community activities, such as Rotary Club, Y.M.C.A., Library Board, Education Groups, Boy Scouting, many banking and business clubs and various church activities.. In 2007, he was honored with a community service award by the Orange Elks for support to Police and City Projects. He was very active in and was an advisory committee member of the Isiah House in East Orange. Mr. Brown has been happily married thirty years to his lovely wife Isabel Brown and they are blessed with three children, Grecia, Aaron, and Michael. He is also survived by his mother, Gloria Brown, his sister, Cynthia, niece, Erin, four grandchildred and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
