Sending love and condolences to Aunt Conchita and all my cousins, Patrick, Genie, Andrew, Maria, Kieran and Alicia. I was deeply saddened to hear of Amanda's passing. I remember her as a kind, loving, beautiful and compassionate girl. She was always, so sweet, from the time she was a very small child, who then grew up to be the beautiful person that I loved so much. I know that Amanda is with God. May God comfort all of you in your loss. In deepest sympathy and with much love, Fran Ryan and the Ryan cousins

I only met Amanda once for a few drinks almost 2 years ago. We never saw each other again but for some reason, she always stayed with me. Amanda really was unlike anyone I've ever met before and she had an innate kindness and spirit that I will never forget. I did not know her well but I am truly saddened to know of her passing. She was a sweet girl and I know she's at peace somewhere. So sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the entire Collins family; especially to her sister Alicia who Amanda spoke about often and considered her closest confidant. I first met Amanda in the summer of 1999 and knew right away that we would be friends. Amanda was more than special. Her originality, creativeness, snazzy personality and angelic voice naturally drew people to her and brought smiles to all around her. Some of my fondest memories of my friendship with Amanda were our spectacular shopping sprees at BergdorfGoodman, uber-fun vacations to ClubMed and hard-core gym workouts. Plus, she made the best fudge and chocolate chip cookies ever! Words can’t even describe my immense sadness in her passing. She was taken away from us and this world before her time. Rest in peace Amanda and know that you will be missed very much.

My deepest sympathy to the Collins family. I recall when we first began high school, she was my first friend from South Orange (freshman year), I was from Maplewood. She was just so warm and bubbly. After high school we lost touch but I would think about her from time to time. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

My deepest sympathies go out to Amanda's family and close friends. Amanda was my first big "crush" back in Junior High, and I was lucky enough to become her friend. She was a true spirit and as a young person showed amazing maturity. A memory that stands out was how she always defended the kids who were being picked on, she would never tolerate that, and I learned through and from her to stand up for those who do not have the tools to stand up for themselves. Although we lost touch over the years, I feel lucky to have known her, and to have gone to school with her through college.

My dear beautiful soul Amanda: Although I am shocked and saddened by the loss of your beautiful soul -that left this world too soon- I know god wanted you so that you could be an angel of another world. I pray that you are at the gates of heaven surrounded by gods unconditional light and love. Let the wings of your loved ones carry you across the great divide and most of all I hope you can feel that I carry the friendship of a lifetime and you in my heart for the rest of my days. Til we meet again my sweet, sweet kind and ever so understanding sister. I miss you so much and love you - as you know unconditionally. My deepest sympathies and prayers are with all of Amanda’s family and friends during this sorrowful time. I know we are all shocked and saddened that such a sparkling vivacious person was taken from us too soon. Amanda had such a warm and exuberant personality, and a gift for always making me laugh. From the first day I met her at Seton Hall we were instant friends, and the memories I have when we were room-mates in Hoboken after college are some of the best times in my life. She was truly one of the most generous people I’ve ever known, and I will miss her with my whole heart. I loved her dearly, and I’m a better person for having known her. I will cherish her memory for the rest of my life.

My deepest condolences to the Collins family and Amanda's close friends. I am truly saddened to hear of her passing. I knew Amanda in Junior high and remember her kindness and warmth of spirit. Her smile and laugh were unforgettable.Though I hadn't seen her in years, I did have the good fortune of speaking with her on the phone a few years back and was reminded just how dynamic she was. She clearly touched every one she met. Rest in Peace.

Amanda's Eulogy at Our Lady of Sorrow's Service May 8, 2010
Amanda was a kind and gentle soul who seemed to glide through life with her feet just slightly off the ground. When she was a girl growing up on Connett Place, every night before she went to sleep she would stand at the top of the stairs and call out "good night, too-da-loo, I love you" to whomever was home to hear it. That sweetness was an innate part of who she was, and it was something she carried with her into adulthood.
She was always so loved by her sisters and brothers. When they were very small Amanda and Maria were so inseparable that a neighbor took to just calling the two of them "Miranda". Her younger sister, Alicia, grew up hero-worshipping her, always secure in the knowledge that she had the most beautiful, glamorous big sister in the world (certainly the coolest "it girl" roaming the halls of Columbia High School). Later, as adults, they were as close as two sisters could ever be and Amanda always said that Alicia was her best friend.
The love and compassion that Amanda showed to her family extended to all she knew. She was so proud of her nieces and nephews, that any who knew Amanda, had heard stories of how brilliant, adorable and perfect they all were. She was a fiercely loyal friend who valued kindness to others above all else. It was her selflessness and compassion that led her to bring breakfast and a few kind words to a homeless vet everyday on her way to work for the years she worked at Bergdorf Goodman. This is just one of the countless examples of the random acts of kindness that exemplified the manner in which Amanda conducted her life. She always took time to think about the feelings and needs of others and tried every day to be a better person.
No one who knew Amanda could ever think of her without thinking of her wit, intelligence and quirky off-beat sense of humor. She liked nothing more than laughing at her own jokes and loved it even more if you were laughing along with her. Whether it be a real life encounter on the streets of NY or a fictional character she was working on, Amanda was a wonderful story teller.
More than anything, though hers was a life cut short much too young, she was a beautiful person with the kindest heart imaginable. Her life will be remembered by all those who loved her as one lived with a deep capacity for love, and a truly unforgettable and generous spirit. She will be truly missed.
