Cohn --- A Maplewood resident for 45 years Edgar A. Cohn passed away peacefully August 15, 2010 at Overlook Hospital surrounded by family.
Edgar was a 48 year member of The Strollers, the community theater in Maplewood. His memorial service will be at the Strollers' home theater, the
Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts at 10 Durand Rd., Maplewood. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories and attend the service on Saturday
August 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Edgar was born in Berlin, Germany and after almost two years in Cuba immigrated to the Untied States in 1940. He proudly served in the United States Army. Edgar was a mental health counselor at several places around New Jersey. His gift for caring for people gave him a reputation of a trusted colleague and counselor to so many people, not just professionally but in his private life as well. His deep love and respect for all living things made him a magnet for not only people but for animals as well. Everyone who ever met Ed felt a warmth that would make an impression to last a lifetime.
Edgar is survived by his most beloved wife Judy Allwyn Cohn. His devoted children Alan Cohn and his partner Jodi, Jonathan Cohn and his wife Louie, Shari Cohn-Simmen and her husband Martin, Vivien Barcia and her husand Tommy, David Cohn and his partner Marianne, Barry Cohn and his wife Debra, Jennifer Marsh and her husband Colin. He is also survived by 13 wonderful grandchildren.
