Alice E. Meslar Kenny, resident of the Atrium at Wayne in Wayne, N.J., died peacefully on Dec. 23, one month before her 92nd birthday. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, N.J., on Monday 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tues, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J. Interment is private. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Mrs. Kenny was born in Newark, N.J., on Jan. 18, 1919, and grew up in the Vailsburg section. She later lived in South Orange, Maplewood and Caldwell, N.J. Her beloved husband of 30 years, John J. Kenny II, died in 1970. She went on to raise their six children. As a 55-year-old widow with four children still home, Mrs. Kenny went back to work and ensured all her children received their college educations. At 70, she retired from the Essex County Probation Department. Throughout her life, Mrs. Kenny was an avid recreational bridge player. She is survived by her six children and their families, John J. Jr. and his wife, Louisa, Brian E. and his wife, Heather, Alice and her husband, William Lucas; Maryanne and her husband, Patrick J. Kelly, Edward, and Tara; beloved grandchildren, John J. III, R. Andrew, Megan E., Brian H., Ian, Matthew, and Marissa and great-grandchildren, Connor, Shaye, Hayden, and Carter.
