Jane Nagle Regan Houghton, 88, of South Orange and Spring Lake died on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Care One, Wall Township.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Propsect St., South Orange, on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. Raised in New York City, first on Grand Concourse and then E. 67th Street, Jane resided in South Orange, N.J., for 60 years. She had a summer home in Spring Lake for most of her life. A wife and homemaker, she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church since 1951. Jane was an avid bridge player, reader and crossword enthusiast . A women of keen intellect and love of travel, she was past president of Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary Society, and former president of Marymount College Alumnae Association Jane attended Ursuline Academy, the Bronx, N.Y., and Marymount College, Tarrytown, N.Y., earning a B.S. in 1943.
She was the devoted wife of the late Bradley Houghton and James S. Regan Jr.; loving mother of James S Regan III, John J.N. Regan, Jane Alice Regan, Richard F.X. Regan and Eileen Marie Regan Adams, and beloved stepmother of Marion Houghton, Mary Louise Mayer, Richard Houghton, Carolyn Banks and Therese Houghton. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
