Obituary of Mary T. Springer

Mary Connelly Springer, 94, passed away peacefully at her son's home in Point Pleasant, N.J., on April 29, 2018. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange, N.J., on Wednesday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, N.J. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, N.J., on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Mary was born and raised in Boston, Mass. She lived in Maplewood, N.J., for 34 years before moving to Springfield, N.J., in 2002 and to West Orange, N.J., in 2008. She moved to Wall Township, N.J., in 2014 to be closer to her son and his family. Mary graduated from Emmanuel College in Massachusetts with a B.S. in chemistry and worked as a chemist for Standard Oil. She then received a Master's in Public Health from Yale University. Mary had a number of jobs, including teaching English-as-a-Second Language in Newark, N.J., and as a public health educator in Belleville, N.J., and West Orange. She was precedeased by her husband, Warren P. Springer, in 2008. She is survived by her children, Joseph M. Springer and Mary A. Springer; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Springer; grandchildren, Caitlin, Benjamin and Grace Springer, and numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
