Captain Previll was the Master of the training ship Empire State when I was a cadet and later he was a colleague when he worked at MSCLANT. My first personal meeting with him was when I was on Weather Watch late at night. He took the time to show me how to use a radar repeater notwithstanding that it was not part of my watch and it was on his own free time. He just voluntered to help and that made an impression. Later, when he was at MSC and I was at MTMC, he consistently showed his dedication and willingness to help. He was a true gentleman, someone to be admired. My cadolences to his family.
