Since I was a little girl you have been a presence in my life. You shared so many beginnings and sacraments with my parents and my sisters, and then our marriage, Baptism of our children, and funerals of our loved ones. You have been a part of the fabric of our marriage and family for over 30 years, and we owe so much to you for your support, friendship, and unconditional love.
Our blessings are myriad for knowing you, and our cups runneth over. You will be forever loved and missed on earth, but Ingie, your mother, and the crew are having a wonderful reunion! God bless you, dear Father Jim.We will miss you until we meet again...

Dear Father Jim, Heidi lovingly said what we are all feeling after receiving the news that you left us to be you your Father. I still remember like it was yesterday when I passed out for the very first time during your ordination Mass. The years of laughter and tears, Christmas Eve's on Roland Ave and so many more wonderful memories. I was so blessed to have dinner with you last year when you came to Vermont for a visit. Our family has lost a wonderful man and we are all much better people having you in our lives. May God bless you and may you rest in peace.

Jim was one of the finest priests I have ever known. He was my mentor and spiritual adviser. A couple of years ago I asked him his biggest lesson learned as a priest. He thought for a moment and said "My biggest lesson learned is that Jesus really loves us." His moving just made heaven a little bit better!

Jody and I are saddened to lose our family's spiritual leader, comforter and friend. Jimmy was Jody's cousin and an important part of her growing up after losing her father at a young age.
Jimmy married Jody and I 42 years ago, baptized our children and was always there for us when we needed him.
Our fondest memories though were our annual NYC dinners and trips to the Opera with Jimmy and his best friend Montsignor Bobby. Our conversations were rich but the Italian pasta, wine and his favorite after dinner liquor, Ramazzotti, made the evenings unforgettable.
Jimmy, you were the most caring, generous, selfless person we had the privilege of calling " friend". We will remember you and miss you so much but are comforted that you are reunited with Aunt Cordelia and Uncle Mike for the rest of eternity.
Your mission on earth may be ended but your legacy will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
Rest in peace, we love you
John and Jody Myers

He was a very fine priest and human being. The Church benefitted from his service and legacy.

Monsignor Cafone was a wonderful priest who shared insightful anecdotes tied in with the Gospel during his beautiful homilies at Mass. He never failed to steal some chuckles from the congregation with his sense of humor. In all that Monsignor said, he always taught us that we should lovingly and willingly give ourselves up to God, and he was a fine example of that lifestyle. Maxine and Maryann loved to altar serve during his masses, and he will be dearly missed by many. May he rest peacefully with our Lord.

Sorry for the loss of Msgr.James Cafone to his family and closest friends. I'm sadden hearing of the loss to our society of such a compassionate man and troubadour of Christ word. No priest touched the lives of so many and helped make them see Christianity on a humanitarian level. He kept the spirit of a child in him and shared it with the world. May he continue to be with us in Spirit and guide us. He was our teacher on many levels, may we continue to learn.

He was visibly not feeling well but he mustered the strength to celebrate the Mass for us. I remember praying several Hail Mary's for him because I could see he was not well. Father Cafone (as I knew him) molded my spirituality as a tween in our parish in Garwood, NJ. He understood the mind of a youth and his homilies showed that. I always felt like he was talking right to me in church, like he knew what I was going through. He was the very definition of church for me. I will always be grateful for his presence in my life and what he unknowingly provided for me. He will be missed.

I used to jokingly suggest to Fr Cafone that they should clone him and put one in each parish. He was a wonderful, inspiring, Holy Spirit filled priest. When he said a Mass, it was as if he were saying it for the first and last time. He was always fully present and put his whole heart into it. His homilies were always heartfelt and meaningful, never dull or dry. I recall a familiar, favorite line in his homilies would be a sincere, "Thanks be to God". That's how I feel about having known Fr. Jim as a priest and later as a friend. "Thanks be to God" for having been fortunate enough to have known him.

When my mom was dying of BREAST cancer, we called FATHER CAFONE, and he came to see her right away. He had just gotten back from Italy, and gave my mom his blessed medals he had recieved from the pope. We still have these medals. When he read the gospel, he would say it in words you could understand. He was an old school priest, and TRUELY ONE OF THE BEST EVER!!!! FATHER CAFONE, THANK YOU FOR EVENRYTHING YOU HAVE TAUGHT US, AND FOR BEING THERE FOR MY MOM. I KNOW YOU ARE WITH GOD NOW TRUELY AT PEACE. THANK YOU FOR EVEYTHING. THE BOLLMAN FAMILY

My memory of Monsignor Cafone is of how God used him to grant me a special gift. About 18 years ago, when I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter, I attended a mass that Monsignor Cafone celebrated. While I was listening, I had a thought to ask him to bless my baby. So, after mass I did. He put his hands on my belly and said a blessing. Soon after, my water broke and I went into labor. The doctors were determined to do everything medically possible to keep the baby from coming so prematurely. In spite of their efforts, my daughter was born. She had a hole in her diaphragm that required surgery to correct. The doctors said we were very lucky because babies that go full term with this condition are still born. I am very grateful to the doctors for saving her, but I know that luck had nothing to do with her coming early. God used Monsignor Cafone’s anointed hands to get my baby to those doctors in time. Today, she is a healthy high school senior. Thank you Monsignor Cafone.
