Christy Michos, 92, of South Orange, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in St. Barnbabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Ss Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Laurel Ave., Roseland, N.J., on Monday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. Entombment is in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Millburn, N.J. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service. For more information, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net. Born in Brooklyn, Conn., Mr. Michos resided in South Orange for 52 years. He was a real estate developer in Essex County for many years before retiring. He managed C.E.C. Builders Inc. in South Orange and was a licensed real estate agent before becoming a developer. Mr. Michos was also a part-time building inspector in South Orange. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a private first class from 1942 to 1946 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Michos attended French literature classes at Seton Hall University. He had traveled to Paris and other areas of France, and had studied at Sorbonne University. He was a lover of thoroughbred horse racing, the opera and ballet. Mr. Michos was the beloved husband of the late Elisabeth Gounis Michos; devoted father of Christopher Michos, M.D. and his wife, Lea; dear brother of Bob Michos, and loving grandfather of Steven and John Michos. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Seeing Eye Inc., 10 Washington Valley Road, Morristown, N.J. 07960 (seeingeye.org) would be appreciated.
