Mrs. Martine E. Redman Donofrio, 61, of Short Hills, formerly of Montclair, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in Overlook Hospital, Summit. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Georges Episcopal Church, 550 Ridgewood Rd., Maplewood, on Wednesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. Interment is private. Visitation will be at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com.
Born in Dubois, Pa., Mrs. Donofrio lived in Montclair before moving to Short Hills 10 years ago. She was a game inventor and owner of the Briarpatch in Millburn, creator of games and puzzles for children that promote learning and fun, from 1992 to the present. She was a 1967 graduate of Grove City College in Pennsylvania with a B.A. in German and was valedictorian of Penn Joint High School, Claridge, Pa., in 1963. Mrs. Donofrio held several leadership positions, including head of the Millburn Environmental Commission and the Millburn Deer Management Task Force. She served on the Millburn Planning Board was an active member of the Great Swamp Watershed Association. She also belonged to the Rahway River Association, the Nature Conservancy and the Morris Land Conservancy. She was a former board member of the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association and a member of the Maplewood Little Club and West Orange Tennis Club. She was the beloved wife of John A. Donofrio; devoted mother of Valerie Koch and Rachel Ammon; loving grandmother of Sophia and Savannah Koch. In lieu of flowers, donations to Morris Land Conservancy, 19 Boonton Ave., Boonton, N.J. 07005 would be appreciated.
