Mrs. Agnes Smith Grosz, 89, of Maplewood died on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 in Winchester Gardens, Maplewood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11:15 a.m. The family will be receiving friends at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Friday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Grosz lived in Short Hills for 50 years before moving to Maplewood two years ago. She was a teacher at St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge, La., and at LSU during the 1940's. She graduated in 1940 with a B.A. degree and in 1942 with a master's degree, both in history from LSU. She was a member of the Canoe Brook Country Club. She was the beloved wife of the late Melvin H. Grosz; devoted mother of Kristin Ann Grosz of Boca Raton, Fla.; G. Kurk Grosz of Laguna Beach, Calif., and the late M. Kyle Grosz; dear mother-in-law of Ann Lindley Grosz; also survived by five grandchilddren and one great-grandchild.
