So sorry to hear of Michael's unfortunate passing (at such a young age). Very grateful that we had a chance to meet him and be with you and experience your generous hospitality a few years ago there in New Jersey. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn. May the good memories and thoughts of sweet times together carry you through the next several months/years. You are loved and admired, Cindy.

My profound condolences to Mike's wonderful family. I have to say that I and the rest of the FEMA family are blessed to have known and worked with Mike. He was a very unique individual and if we didn't have so much work load, Mike and I could have chatted a lot more. I am hopeful that it may come as comfort to know that Mike was loved by everyone here and we will never forget him. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Cynthia and Annabelle:
I had the fortunate opportunities to meet Mike in Louisiana (Katrina) and work with him on assignment in New York City (Sandy). He always displayed a big smile, great sense of humor, and wry wit. He was an important member of our NYCDPR building assessment team, and we miss his friendship, presence, and architectural contributions. May he rest in eternal peace.

I knew Mike just for a few weeks in Africa, working in a project in The Republic of Congo. He was just easy going and interesting to talk to at the same time. What I remember most is the great sense of humor he had. My deepest condolences to all his family.
He was such a nice person, he will be missed.

Dear Cynthia, family and friends of a dedicated and honorable airman and FEMA recovery specialist. We are all privileged to have served time with Mike while he was in New Orleans. A true gentleman with kindness and generosity to every one he met. We thank the Lord for his life, touching each of us in such a magnificent way. He is in green pasture with the Lord and smiling upon us. Until we meet again, rest in the palm of His hand, grace, and love. Mike will always be in our heart and memories. Love in Christ, Peter

Many years ago, while walking to the train in Maplewood, I regularly walked past a house under construction around the corner on Winthrop Place. I noticed an old bathtub and sink had been placed out in the backyard.Every day, it seemed, more and more plumbing fixtures were being added to the yard. First there was one sink, then two, then three. Before, where there had been one tub, now there were two. "Uhm...Hi! I couldn't help noticing.... those tubs and sinks in your yard....and I would like to buy one or two of them if you're selling them." "BUY them??" he asked with a look of amusement on his face. "I'll GIVE them to you." he said with a smile. Not only that, but later that day, he and one of his brothers-in-law helped me carry that heavy cast iron bathtub up the hill to Ridgewood Road, and down to Mountain Avenue and around the corner and through the bulkhead leading to our basement where it still sits to this very day. That's the kind of guy Mike was.

I knew Mike when he worked New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I only worked with him for a few months, but his kindness and friendliness will always be remembered. He was the type of person who never met a stranger. Mike had a smile that could light up the night! I am grateful that he passed my way during a very difficult time.
