James W. Denton, 91, of Maplewood, N.J., formerly of Short Hills, N.J., passed away on Nov. 2, 2012 in Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J., on Friday, Nov. 9, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net Mr. Denton lived in Short Hillls, N.J., for 45 years before moving to Maplewood two years ago. He also enjoyed his summer residence in Bay Head, N.J., with his family for many years. Mr. Denton was an investment broker with RBC Dain Raucher in Morristown, N.J., from 1975 to 2005 when he retired. He was a member of the Short Hills Club and Bay Head Yacht Club. He was a graduate of Colgate University Class of 1948. He was a lieutenant in U. S. Army serving during World War II in the European theatre, and participated in the Normandy Invasion. Beloved husband of Millicent Seebeck Denton, he was the devoted father of Ellen Denton, James W. Denton Jr., Leslie D. Boughner and Lisa D. Bruno; dear brother of Ann D. Couch. He was also survived by his loving nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
