Obituary of Audrey Potts Larsen

Audrey Potts Larsen, loving wife and mother, and renowned storyteller, died at her home in Maplewood, NJ on Wednesday. Her daughter, Heather Larsen of West Springfield, MA, was by her side. She is also survived by her step-children, William T. Larsen III and Kristine Brignoni, and four step-grandchildren. Audrey was born in Bronx, NY, and is predeceased by her father, US Congressman and Judge David M. Potts, mother, Elizabeth Creighton Potts, and brother, Logan Potts. She studied elementary education, earning a BA from Syracuse University and a master's degree from Columbia University, and was a proud member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Audrey's fondness for adventure led her to Venezuela, where she worked as a teacher for Orinoco Mining Co. She also taught at the William E. Cottle Elementary School in Tuckahoe, NY. After earning a pilot license for the fun of it, she continued life's adventures with William Thomas Larsen, Jr., to whom she was married until his death in 2001. Uncovering her musicality late in life, Audrey was a founding member of the Hand Bell Choir at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, where she also served as a deacon. She will be remembered for her love of life, wry humor, and cache of stories for every occasion. Interment will take place on Monday, Feb 22nd at 10 AM at the Fair Mount Cemetery, in Chatham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, February 22nd, at 2 PM at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, 432 Wyoming Avenue, Millburn. Visiting hours will be Sunday, February 21st from 2-6pm at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood. In lieu of flowers donations to American Cancer Society NJ, 986 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081, would be appreciated.
