Sister Patricia Murphy entered eternal life on April 26, 2016. Sr. Pat was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, Pa., for the past 60 years. She taught school in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and was principal at St. Michael's School in Palisades Park, N.J. For the past 34 years, she had been a chaplain at Overlook Medical Center, where she managed the department for the past 10 years. Sr. Pat was predeceased by her father, Leo, and brother-in-law, Robert E. Dowd. She is survived by her mother, Viola (98 years old); sister, Theresa Dowd; nieces and nephew, Bridget Dowd, Rosemary McNamee (Sean), Robert Dowd, Jr. (Donielle), Anna Schaefer (John), and Patricia Sarsen. She is also survived by four grand-nieces, five grand-nephews, and her very dear friend. A viewing will take place at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, N.J., on Sunday, May 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 5 p.m. On Monday, May 2, a viewing will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Villa, Flourtown, Pa., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and the burial will take place immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sr. Pat's name to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 9701 Germantown Ave., Phila, Pa. 19118 would be greatly appreciated.
