Obituary of Anton F. Tisseverasinghe

Anton F. Tisseverasinghe, 65, resident of Orange, N.J. passed away Tuesday May 31, 2016. Funeral mass will held at St. Joseph's Church, 110 Telford St., East Orange, NJ on Friday, June 3rd at 10am. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Thursday 6-9 pm. Born in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka on June 20, 1950 to the late Francis Tisseverasinghe and Mary E. Johnpillai, Anton moved to the U.S. at the age of 19 to join his sister Lily and attend college. On June 5, 2003, Anton married his love Imali Karaunaratne and moved to Orange, NJ. Anton earned his B.S. in Phys. Ed. from Kean University and went on to spend his life sharing his love for the game of Tennis with others as a professor of Phys. Ed. for Kean College and tennis instructor for the Westfield Tennis Club and later for Cranford Swim and Tennis club. Anton leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Imali, daughters Udani & Jeanine and grandson Malachi. He was the dear brother of Jeeva Selvaretnam, Angela Mailvaganam, Beulah Geeveratnam, Godfrey Tisseverasinghe, Philomena Mailvaganam, Lourdes Nadarajah, Joy Tisseverasinghe; predeceased by his brother Bertram Tisseverasinghe and sister Regina (Lily) Blackwell.
