Mary Cryan died January 12, 2015 at her daughter's home in Union . Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Michael The Archangel Church, 1212 Kelly St., Union on Friday Jan 16th at 10:15 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. . She attended St. Antoninus School in Newark and graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange. She lived in South Orange before moving to Union 22 years ago. Mary was active in many civic and church organizations. A longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church Vailsburg, Mary served on the parish council, was a past vice-president of the Rosary Altar Society and was a member of the Sacred Heart School's parent-teacher association. She was a member of the John F. Cryan Association, the Women of Irish Heritage, the Giblin Association, the Roscommon Society, and the Jerry Lynch Association. Mary served as a Democratic District Leader in both Newark and South Orange. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and especially treasured her summers in Manasquan surrounded by her family. Mary's warm heart and quiet goodness will be remembered by everyone who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Cryan. Devoted mother of Mary "Cissy" Donohue and her husband Joseph, John F. Cryan Jr. and his wife Christine, Joseph P. Cryan and his wife Kathy, Eileen Birch and her husband Richard, James T. Cryan and his wife Noreen, and the late Michael J. and Edward C. Cryan. Mother-in-law of Lisa Cryan, sister of Joseph Carr and the late Edward and John Carr. Mary is survived by ten grandchildren.
