Obituary of Carolyn A. Niemitz

Carolyn Niemitz of Maplewood, N.J., died on Jan. 12, 2018 at the age of 93. Carolyn was born on Nov. 23, 1924, in Carbondale, Pa. After attending Keystone College, she moved to Maplewood in 1943 to live with her aunt and uncle and find a job. She joined NJ Bell Telephone Co. as a secretary. She joined Morrow Memorial Church, and in 1947 met her future husband, Henry, who passed away in February 2017. In addition to raising a family, Carolyn was active in the church, the Maplewood Club, and the school district including a term as PTA co-president with her husband. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Trish) of Carlisle, Pa., and Peter (Paul Gaucher) of Boston, Mass., and daughter, Gail Fritzinger (Peter) of Denver, Colo. She had six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private interment will be held at the Morrow Church Memorial Garden. Arrangements are by The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood. Memorial gifts may be made to the Winchester Gardens Residents Scholarship Fund or the Niemitz Scholarship Fund at Morrow Church.
