The Obit: Richard H Huntington, 73, died on Sunday July, 23. He was born in Newark on August 27, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of Maplewood. He was a graduate of Columbia High School in 1950, Princeton University in 1954, and of Teacher's College-Columbia University in 1957 where he received a Master's Degree. A Korean War veteran he served in The U.S. Army from 1954 to1956. For 35 years he taught History at Columbia High-retiring in 1992. He was co-author of LEGACY OF FREEDOM, a widely used History textbook. Rich had been a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church. He was a strong supporter of Father Flanagan's Boystown and an ardent METS fan. He is survived by his Sister Nancy Hetzel of St. David's, PA.and his nieces Lisa West and Lauren Melroy. Burial is in the family plot in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Newark.
