Seymour L. Andrew Jr., 84, of South Orange died on Oct. 22, 2007, at Haven Hospice at JFK Hospital, Edison. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation is at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net.
Born in Orange, Mr. Andrew was a lifelong South Orange resident. He was a claims examiner with the State of New Jersey Department of Labor from 1955 to 1985 when he retired. He attended Seton Hall University. Mr. Andrew served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was formerly very active with the South Orange Little League, where he was also a coach and umpire.
Mr. Andrew was the beloved husband of the late Joan Aldous Andrew; devoted father of Seymour (Lance) III, Thomas, Michael and Steven Andrew and Maureen Capista; dear brother of Helen Brown, also survived by 11 grandchildren.
