Angelo A. Aufiero, 91, of South Orange died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. only at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange. Interment will private. Born in Orange, Mr. Aufiero lived in South Orange for 50 years. Mr. Aufiero was a self-employed craftsman at Suburban Craftsman in South Orange from 1937 to 1987, when he retired. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 to 1945, and was a carpenters mate first Class (T) (CB) in the Pacific Theatre. He participated in numerous campaigns, including the capture and occupation of the Georgia Islands, and Vella Lavella, B.S.I., in August 1943. He also served in the Admiralty Islands Expeditionary Force from Feb. 29, 1944 to April 20, 1944, and the Okinawa Gunto Operation in 1945. In 1947, Mr. Aufiero received the Navy Commendation as part of the 58th US Naval Battalion.
He is survived by June Parry Aufiero and was the loving father of Michael and Lawrence Aufiero and dear brother of Carmella Cimiluca.
