Filomena M. (Phyllis or Fil) Cappaze (nee cosentino) died peacefully in her home on Saturday, November 6, 2010, she was 90 years "young". Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Tues, Nov 9th at 9:30 AM. Interment Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Monday 4:00- 8:00 PM. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net. Originally from the North Ward of Newark, Fil was a 65 year resident of South Orange. She spent 15 years as a crossing guard at Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS) School and was a faithful OLS parishioner and member of the OLS Rosary Society. Fil will be remembered for her warm soul and kind heart as well as for her loving spirit. She was an independent, resilient woman whose strength was an inspiring virtue. Fil was happiest when her loved ones were gathered around her enjoying her delicious macaroni dinners. Whether you were a family member, close friend or new acquaintance, there was always room for you at her table. Fil was the quintessential homemaker. Fil is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Frank P. Cappaze, their children Anthony F. Cappaze and his wife Faye, Carol A. McKenna and her husband Joseph and Linda S. Cappaze as well as three grandchildren, Joyce (Joy) A. Cappaze, Brian J. and Alysa N. McKenna, and two great grandchildren Brittany F. Coughlin and Shannon H. Coughlin as well as Bella, a loyal and faithful pet always as Fil's feet. Fil is also survived by her sister Dolores Monahan (nee Cosentino) as well as more than five dozen nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Domenic and Sam Sposato, Joseph, Anthony, Salvatore, Michael and Louis Cosentino and Louise Agoglia (nee Cosentino). Fil was an incredible person with a beautiful soul. She left a lasting impression in the minds and hearts of all who knew her. Her smile and zest for life will be missed always. In lieu of flowers donations to the South Orange Rescue Squad, 4 Third Street, South Orange, NJ 07079 would be appreciated.
