My condolences to the Parisi Family. Mrs. P was a standout teacher and a big influence in our lives. She encouraged our better instincts and treated our failings with understanding. I loved her the most for being a normal human being. While the nuns at St. Rose barked at their first-day students to sit up straight and stop fidgeting, Mrs. Parisi led her new charges in a sing-along of "Getting to Know You." One of many wonderful differences that make her unforgettable. Requisat in pace.

My The Lord's Light Shine Upon Her
To the Parisi Family -
Words are so inadequate at times like these. Please take comfort in knowing that a student from 50 years ago and his family will have her and her family is our thoughts and prayers.
I recently sent her an Easter card. It may have been sent too late. In the card, I mentioned that recently, my grandkids asked me who my favorite teacher was when I was growing up? I answered proudly and without a pause, "my 4th teacher, Mrs. Parisi!
We will miss her, but not mourn her. She is still here with those she touched (and that number is many). Instead, we celebrate her!

To the McCree Family , in which I have always had fond memories of Frank and all his loved one's I would like to say a few words: While I did not know Mrs. Parisi , it truly does not matter as my relationship with Frank has been a long one and Frank has always been there for me , assisting me when I needed an opinion.

In September of 1959 another school year started at St. Roses.
Instead of the scrunched up starched whiteness and dour yet warm countenance of our 3rd grade teacher, Sister Vera, we 9 year olds were buzzing about something new; a vibrant, beautiful, effervescent, Mrs. Parisi.
My first, and only non-nun and yeah, she was fun! A fun, non-nun.
We were ready to begin a year of discovery.
We started the 4th grade off with a song: Getting to Know You!
In my memory, not only could we hold a tune, but the boys were years away from squeaking out the high notes.
Oh, yeah! It was going to be different. It was.
We learned about art, with picture postcards of famous paintings, artists and architecture.
We learned about music. We learned about life.
We were most fortunate to have Mrs. Parisi as our muse.
The seeds she cultivated so long ago have spread across the globe.
