My heart and love are with Ginny, Chris and Eric as they celebrate the life of their father (whom no single adjective can describe). Bill, and his wonderful wife Virginia, were like parents to me for many years. Bill's indomitable spirit, his wry sense of humor, and his willingness to laugh at himself, along with his limitless generosity and passionate commitment to justice, were models for me (and many others) of what a human can be. I still see his face and hear his voice and have to, yet again, laugh with him and remember not to take myself too seriously, even as I commit myself still and again to the quest for a better world. Those of us who knew and loved --and love -- Bill carry his spirit forward each in our own way, just as he would have appreciated. Even now, writing these words, the smile he always made me smile returns, and I see that twinkle in his eye and know, truly: Bill Hildebrand, Presente!

I was once a Martindale girl. Mr. Hildebrand made every employee feel they were an important cog in the wheel. He always went out of his way to know each and everyone who worked for the company. He worked hard at giving us the best working environment available. I am honored to have known and worked with him and will always remember him fondly. An unforgettable gentleman!

My condolences to the family.
I can see that William was certainly a lover of mankind and cared deeply for people. He and the work he did in their behalf will certainly be missed. May the "God of all comfort" (Psalm 55:22) give the family the peace and strength needed at this time to endure. SW

I met Bill in 1985 after becoming friends with his daughter Chris.
Bill and Virginia made you feel like you belong to the family, actually like you were one of the family.
We had many discussions about the world and human conditions. Bill and Virginia taught by example, you don’t judge
by ethnicity, social standings or wealth.
I feel honored to have known Bill, his humor, laugh and friendship. I will miss him.

I met Billy in 1965, the father of my dear friend Chris. I would not be the person I became if not for him. He took me to my first political rally with speaker Rev. Martin Luther King. We had many discussions of Vietnam and world politics. I have always loved him as a father and he will always have a place in my heart.
