I am so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Dick and I worked together for many years at Newark State, now Kean University. He was always such a gentleman and a good person. So many will miss him,I am sure. My condolences to the Nichols' family.

I served for nearly a decade with Dick on the Dean's Council at Kean. He was an exceptional teacher and a steadfast friend. His many friends at Kean University mourn his passing. As Graduate Dean, he was our first real pioneer in graduate program development. We send our heartfelt condolences to Lois and the Nichols family.

I am following-up on a Kean email sent to my attention titled, "For Review-In Memoriam". My prayer goes out to the family in regard to a recent loss you just experienced. I wish you all a quick recovery during your time of grief.
There is a need to tell time to "stop" and focus on the needs of others (consoling, comforting, up-building, empowering, etc.). Hence, I am telling time to essentially "stop" to recognize your pain and agony; and, most importantly, to impart comforting words to this family and their friends.
This is why faculty, staff, and students on a continual basis have shared that the my mentoring is an initiative, and I'm here to share it with family and friends during this most tough time.
I look to forge bonds not only with Kean students but also with its professional faculty and staff, along with their families and friends!
Lastly, we, the Kean community and family, hold you all with opened-arms.
With much sincerity,
C

Dr. Nichols was one of my best professors of my Master of Arts in Educational Administration program at Kean College in the late 1980's. He taught me the proper, reflective process of teacher supervision; and it was very clear to me that he believed in the importance of investing in people. I always endeavored to use his teachings and professional approach in my administrative work in my school district during the 20 years after my course with him. I will always remember that he supplied each of us students with an extra supervision guidebook when we finished his course -- probably at a cost to him. He was a very knowledgeable, professional, wise, and giving professor and man who touched my work and life. Thank you, Dr. Nichols, and my deep condolences to your family.
