William Gailey, 74, of Maplewood, N.J., died at home on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J., on Wednesday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net. Born in Kearny, N.J., Mr. Gailey lived in Maplewood for 45 years. He worked at PSE&G in Newark, N.J., from 1963 until retiring in 1998. He held various engineering positions related to nuclear projects and electrical operations and retired as general manager of distribution technology. He received his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1959, was company commander of Delta 2, and served with the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He was scheduled to be inducted into the Kearny High School Athletic Hall of Fame for football this year. Mr. Gailey was the beloved husband of Jean Fiore Gailey; devoted father of Colleen Petrilli and her husband, Joseph; Cynthia Dante and her husband, Andrew, and Christine Glenn and her husband, Thomas; loving grandfather of Joseph and Jenna Petrilli and Patrick, Grace and Mackenzie Glenn, and dear brother of Janet Romano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Point Association of Graduates, Bldg. 698, Mills Rd., West Point, N.Y. 10996 would be appreciated.
