Catherine N. Kinney, 72, of Pompton Plains, N.J., formerly of Maplewood, N.J., died on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Saint Clare's Hospital, Denville, N.J.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J., on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is private. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Born in New York, N.Y., Mrs. Kinney lived in Maplewood before moving to Pompton Plains a year and a half ago. She graduated from Caldwell College in 1961 with a bachelor's degree, and from Fordham University with a master's degree in education. She was an English teacher at Franklin Middle School in Nutley, N.J., from 1978 to 2000 before retiring.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Kinney Jr.; devoted mother of Joseph A. Kinney III and his wife, Susan, Justin Kinney and his wife, Diane, and Julia Rudd and her husband, Tom; dear sister of Florence Curley and her husband, Robert; loving grandmother of Annelise, Alexis, Raffaela, Josefina and Angelina Kinney, and Catherine and Sophia Rudd. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
