Remembering the Life of OCTAVIA HAZEL WATT A Special Home Going Celebration October 10, 2013 Her life began on March 31, 1919 in Gladstone, Virginia. She was the daughter of Judge Haze and Mary Eliza McDaniel, also the sister of 13 siblings. In 1960 she wedded James W. Watt. Hazel (as she preferred to be called) accepted Christ Jesus as her Lord & Savior at a very early age. She was baptized in the name of Jesus, a devoted servant, and an active participate in the church on many capacities. Hazel was the source of inspiration to her community and the lives of others. She was a true "spiritual prayer warrior" for us all. She believed in the power of prayer and knew that prayer changes all things. Hazel embraced the first commandment "thy should have no other Gods before me" with all her heart. She was married to James Cardwell in 1935 and this union produced five wonderful daughters, Elsie Mae-pre deceased, Shirley Ilene-pre deceased, Hazel Lucille, Jane Darnell and Edna Oliva. Granny was adored by her grandchildren Carolyn, Helen, Ida, Terrilyn, Eric, Jeffrey, Sherrilyn Gail, Shawn-deceased, Percell, Darren, Hazel, Monica, Symantha, James, Jori and Chad. She will always be cherished by her great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, many, many friends, and anyone who had the honor of being in her presence. As we gather here today in the celebration of her life, may God's light beam down upon all of us with pride, dignity, hope, compassion, and love filling our minds and hearts with the hope that Granny-Octavia Hazel Watt's joyous spirit will live with us, until we meet her again. May God be the Glory. John 3:1-16
