Bibbins --- On Wednesday, August 20, 2014 Charles H. Bibbins of Maplewood passed away, from brain cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Emily Highfield Bibbins, a daughter Alison Burris and her husband Charles, and a son Thomas Bibbins and his wife Patricia. He was also the loving grandfather of Taylor, Logan and Hunter Bibbins, and Daltrey and Rheannon Burris. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Buchanan, and his grandson, Skyler Burris.
Charlie graduated from Cornell University with a BS and MBA in 1955. He retired from Elizabeth Arden in 1994, following 30 years of service as Director of Sales Administration. But he was best known for his public service. For 50 years, Charlie proudly participated in many civic organizations in Maplewood/South Orange. Marking his dedication, he received the Maple Leaf Award (1973), Distingushed Service Award from The Township of Maplewood (1980), and Community Coalition on Race (2012).
A resident at Winchester Gardens, he continued to offer his wisdom and support on a number of initiatives. Rest assured, wherever he is now, he has identified an issue and created a committee to help it run more smoothly...making it a better place. Because that's what Charlie did.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Mr. Bibbins' Life at Morrow Church, 600 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood, on Saturday, Sept. 20th at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Maplewood Adult School, 17 Parker Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040 would be appreciated.
