Frederick A. Heide, 73, passed away at his home in Springfield, N.J., on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. A visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, N.J., on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral is private. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Frederick was born in East Orange, N.J., resided in Short Hills, N.J., and for the past 22 years in Springfield. He was a draftsman and engineer at Star Trak, Inc., Boonton, N.J. Frederick graduated from Lehigh University in 1963 with a B.S. in civil engineering. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Frederick loved to travel throughout Europe, China, and South Africa to see the still-active steam locomotives. He was past president of Jersey Central Railroad Historical Society and the Tri-State Railway Historical Society. He was a member of the Deutscher Club of Clark, N.J., and the Canals Society of New Jersey. He was the dear brother of Harry and his wife, Janet, and Carl and his wife, Nancy, and sister-in-law, Terry Heide. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and extended family in Germany.
