Please share a memory of Irena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dedicated mother, sister, Nana and great-grandmother, Irena "Bea" Pearson, 89, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2016. She was at home, surrounded by family. Born and raised in Englewood, Irena lived there for over 82 years before moving to South Orange 7 years ago. Mrs. Pearson was an Elementary School Teacher for the Englewood Board of Education for 20 years. She was an enthusiastic slot player, Mets and Giants fan and a huge admirer of "Maury" and "Jerry Springer." Irena loved listening to jazz and gospel music, travelling, laughing and spending time with friends and family. She was the beloved mother of Thomas, Dennis, Wayne, Laura and Sharon. Dear sister of Palmer Haynes, Ruthie Kearney, and the late Edith Oliver and Calvin Haynes. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Irena touched the lives of many with her smile, generosity and trademark sense of humor. Family and friends are invited to attend the Homegoing Service at New Ephesus Baptist Church, 175 Brookwood St, East Orange on Fri, March 25th at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours at church are on Friday, 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment will be at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Barnabas Hospice, 95 Old Short Hills Rd, West Orange, NJ 07052 would be appreciated. Arrangements made by Preston Funeral Home, South Orange.
