Obituary of Sheila Lynch

On March 30, 2016 Sheila Mary Lynch of New York, NY passed away peacefully at Amsterdam Nursing Home at the age of 89.
Sheila was born in Paterson, NJ on October 4, 1926, daughter of the late Federal District Court Judge Charles Francis and Marie Kearns Lynch.
Soon after graduating from Cooper Union, Ms. Lynch moved to Manhattan in 1956 and began her career as an Art Director. She soon expanded her business as a freelance artist and book designer, working for various publishing houses and Mad Magazine. Thanks to a very active and prolific career, Ms. Lynch is credited with several hundred book designs.
Her flexible career choice afforded Ms. Lynch the opportunity to pursue her life's passion- World Travel. From Albania to Zanzibar she traveled the world- keeping detailed logbooks and journals of her adventures, including African Safaris and World Cruises, After New York, Paris was her favorite city which she frequented often. Her thirst for world travel also assisted her in her lifelong quest to track her family heritage in Ireland. Ms. Lynch traveled to Ireland many times to build a first hand account of the family tree.
On the occasion of her 70Th birthday, Sheila decided to try paragliding- and set off on a cool windy Autumn day- zipping high above the Hudson River suspended aloft from a parachute, pulled by a speedboat.
Sheila was a creative adventurous, world traveler, amateur astronomer, consummate New Yorker, avid reader, and a devout catholic who fully embraced life.
Ms. Lynch was prededed in death by her brothers Charles Lynch of Normandy Beach, NJ and Patrick Lynch of Boca Raton, Florida.
Sheila is survived by her eight loving nieces and nephews; Megan, Terry, Timothy, Taugh, Bran, Kieran and Michael Lynch, and Tara Lynch Evans. She is also survived by 20 great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from the Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Saturday, April 2, at 8:30 A.M.thence to Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, South Orange where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
