Obituary of Robert Thompson

Robert G. Thompson passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, in Waco, Texas.
Visitation will be held at The Jacob Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, N.J., on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be a graveside service and burial at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Millburn, N.J., on Monday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m.
Robert was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Millburn to Frederick and Alice Thompson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marcel E. Thompson, and sister, Alice Rackus, and his son, Mark F. Thompson.
Upon graduating from Millburn High School, he served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a member of the Corps of Army Engineers. Later, he attended the Art Students League in New York City.
Married for 68 years, Robert is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughter, Patricia A. Nodes, and son-in-law, Daniel J. Nodes; grandchildren, Jennifer E. Nodes and Daniel J. Nodes Jr., and great-grandchildren, Abigail and Emily Nodes.
Robert shared his love of art, letter writing and nature with his family who are forever grateful.
