Allen --- On Thursday, July 6, 2006 Frederick C. Allen of Maplewood. Beloved Husband of Mildred Harrison Allen. Devoted father of Mildred Libster, Fredericka Tildford, Diane Prupis, Alix Ann Allen and Mary Schwenkler. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, 432 Wyoming Ave, Millburn, on Mon, July 10th at 10:00 AM. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Allen, 86, of Maplewood will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Wyoming Presbyterian Church, 432 Wyoming Ave., Millburn. Arrangements are by the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood. Mr. Allen died Thursday at home. The owner and operator of the Allbright Construction Co. in Linden since 1956, he contributed to the redevelopment of Linden, Roselle and the surrounding communities. He also owned the Highview House apartments in East Orange, as well as other properties in Essex and Union counties. As chief executive officer of the Essex and Union Mortgage Co., Mr. Allen worked with the Federal Housing Agency to become one of the largest minority mortgage banking businesses in the country. He founded the New Jersey Tool and Die Co. in Kenilworth, a predecessor of the real estate business. Mr. Allen was a member of the Board of Realtors of Essex and Union counties and a key figure in starting the NAACP lawsuit that led to the acceptance of minorities into the New Jersey Board of Realtors. He financed and organized programs in coordination with the Federal Housing Agency and the Urban Development Agency of New Jersey. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and a member of a Masonic lodge. Born in Orange, he lived in Maplewood for 58 years. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; daughters, Mildred Libster, Fredericka Tildford, Diane Prupis, Alix Ann Allen and Mary Schwenkler; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
