My sympathy to Owen’s family.
My name is Dolores (Ciuba) Koch and I worked a couple of years with Pat Keenan at Schering in Union from 1965 to 1968.
I was in the same department with Pat and we became very good friends. Owen and Pat attended my wedding in 1967.
I just lost my husband, Frank (age 61), quite suddenly on July 5th. I did not know that Pat has passed but this morning I saw the notice about Owen and my heart just went out to the family, especially Betsy and Jay.
My husband was in the US Marines in Vietnam the same time that Jay was there, and Pat would tell me about Betsy all the time. I heard about Betsy and Jay’s wedding, with the swords making a tunnel and Jay in his uniform. Pat talked so very much about her family with me that I felt I really knew you.
Pat was special to me…she took me under her wing at Schering, as this was my very first job after getting out of school.
She also introduced me to the world of antiques. I still have the brass candlesticks and tripod table that were given to me by Pat and Owen.
We kept in touch for only a short time after I left Schering…then, as usual (though sad), lost all contact as we both went on with our lives.
I know how much Owen meant to her…how special he was. I can still remember some of the funny things that Owen would say to Pat, especially about their black dog back then…calling him…….(Oscar)……de sewer….because of where they found him!
My memories are full of Owen and Pat, Betsy and Jay…and my heartfelt condolences to you all.
I will remember them in prayer, and you as well, as we all ask for strength and guidance to go on…but always with their memories and voices in our hearts.
May God give you everlasting peace and comfort at this time.
