BUKLAD Theodora Buklad Attorney in South Orange and Maplewood resident Township official and community leader, 64 Mrs. Theodora Buklad, 64, of Maplewood died on Jan. 6, 2007, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 9:30 a.m. Interment is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Buklad lived in Maplewood for 36 years. She was a partner with her late husband, Henry A. Jr., in Buklad & Buklad in South Orange since 1975. She attended the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, from 1960 to 1962 and graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. in 1964 and Seton Hall University Law School in 1975 with a J.D. Mrs. Buklad was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, South Orange. An elected official on the Maplewood Township Committee from 1988 to 1990, she was a former president of the League of Women Voters in Essex County and former treasurer of the Essex County Women Lawyers Association. She also served on the Maplewood Democratic Committee as a district leader and was past chairman of the Maplewood Democratic Party. She was active on the South Mountain Peace Action Committee and on many Maplewood Township committees, including the Historical Preservation Trust Committee and the Affordable Housing Committee. She was the attorney for the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Buklad was the beloved wife of the late Henry A. Buklad Jr. and the devoted mother of Rebecca Burke, Jennifer Buklad, Rachel Buklad and her husband, Gregory Hanzel; loving grandmother of Bailey Burke; dear sister of Joy Straub and Cherie Hayes; daughter-in-law of Henry and Victoria Buklad Sr., M.D., and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sierra Club, Member Services, 85 Second St., Second Floor, San Francisco, Calif. 94105-3441 would be appreciated.
