Marielle Kathleen Bakri, 14, a lifelong resident of Maplewood, lost her battle against autoimmune disease on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, in Hackensack University Medical Center, after a long and courageous fight.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Friday, Nov. 7, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is private. The family will be receiving friends at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net.
Born in Summit, Marielle graduated from South Orange Middle School and was to become a freshman at Columbia High School before becoming ill.
She leaves behind her heartbroken family and friends. She was the devoted daughter of Mawan and Joyce Pfluger Bakri; dear sister to Noelle and Jamie Bakri; loving granddaughter of Richard and Maureen Pfluger; she is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
