Patricia Wheaton Holgate, 83, of Maplewood, formerly of Short Hills, died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at South Mountain Rehab Center, Vaux Hall. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills, on Monday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. Interment is in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. For more information or to send condolences please visit jacobhollefuneralhome. Born in New York, N.Y., Mrs. Holgate lived in Short Hills for 30 years before moving to Maplewood three years ago. She was a graduate of Finch College in New York. Mrs. Holgate was a homemaker. She was a volunteer for New Eyes for the Needy, and was honored in 2006 by New Eyes for the Needy for 25 years of service to the organization. She devoted much time to the "Fabulous Finds" jewelry and giftware showroom, all items are donated to New Eyes. All proceeds provide new prescription eyeglasses for needy people in the United States. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima's Ladies Auxiliary, Short Hills. She was the beloved wife of the late Clement Holgate; devoted mother of Meg A., Lawrence C. and Susan Holgate, and also survived by seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Eyes for the Needy, P.O. Box 332, Short Hills, N.J. 07078 would be appreciated.
