Elisabeth Gounis Michos, 89, of South Orange died on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at her home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Sts. Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 510 Linden Pl., Orange, on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. Entombment is at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Millburn. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. only. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Michos moved to South Orange 49 years ago. She was a librarian at the Drexel Institute and the Newark Public Library before retiring. A homemaker, Mrs. Michos was a former member of AHEPA, Philoptochos, and the Epirotices Society, and the South Orange Baird Theatre.
She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Christy Michos; devoted mother of Christopher Michos M.D. and his wife, Lea; loving grandmother of Steven, and John; dear sister of John Gounis, and dear cousin of Betty Sarikianos.
