Obituary of John Blaise Pogany

John Blaise Pogany, 62, of South Orange passed away on Saturday November 10th, 2018 at home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church,217 Prospect Street, South Orange on Wed Nov. 14th at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

Mr Pogany was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1956 and was a resident of South Orange since 1962. He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1978 with a BA in Accounting. He worked  as a CPA for NJ Transit, Panasonic, and most recently for Hayward Industries in Elizabeth. He was co-owner of Bunny’s Sports Bar in South Orange. He was a basketball coach at Immaculate Heart, baseball coach for South Orange Little League, and coach and treasurer for Cougar soccer.He was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Leslie, “Bunny”, by his three children, Stephen, Noelle and Ryan, and his three grandchildren, Alexa-Hortenzia. Ella and Liam Blaise Van Syke; also  by his brother Anton and sisters Ildiko and Ursula. He will be terribly missed.

In lieu of flowers donations to Our Lady of Sorrows School, 172 Academy St., South Orange, NJ 07079 would be appreciated.
