I was just informed of Cindy passing yesterday and it came as a bit of a shock. While we lost touch the last several years as a result of professional matters that neither she nor I had anything to do with, I always believed that Cindy was looking out for me and made sure I was treated fairly in connection with what caused the discord between us -- which I was. In the time we worked together with Cindy as the client contact in charge of the show, it was always a team effort with hearty intellectual exchange to achieve the common goal we had set. She spurred me to get involved with the Banking Law Section of the N.J. Bar Association, kicked my butt to do some seminars and next year I will chair the section following in her footsteps. Cindy was no nonsense, no BS, readily put her opinion out there open for debate and a straight talker. I surmise that, because I am pretty much the same way, is why we got along well. For Joe, I may have only met you once but can say your Mom was very proud you went to Harvard -- although I thought you should have given University of Chicago (my alma mater) a chance. All I can offer you by way of some comfort is the following: Whatever it was that made up your Mom was part of the universe before she took form here and remains part of the universe now that she has passed from here to the next reality such that she is not really gone, she is just elsewhere and lives on here in the memories of those who knew her. My heartfelt condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Cindy's passing. I served with her on the board of First UU. She was a devoted board member, and fought hard to keep our church in the forefront of social activism. She was always generous in giving and advice to solve our problems. We depended on her wisdom and principled ideas. We will celebrate her during our December 16th Faith+Works service.

Cindy was always a force to be reckoned with, a powerhouse, and I think she inherited it honestly. We had many good times together in Scouts all throughout school, and it is no surprise to learn how much she achieved and accomplished in her lifetime. May you take comfort in knowing how many lives she touched and how she was admired.

To the Long family, please accept my heartfelt condolences, I'm so sorry for your loss. Lucinda lived a mighty life, and God truly intended for us to live forever, but not in these current conditions. I want to assure you of a real hope of being reunited with your dead loved ones, I hope you will find comfort in reading John 5:28,29. For further information on this hope, please feel free to log on to Jw.org for any questions you may have.

Joseph,
I worked with your mother at Valley National Bank. She was a force to be reckoned with, but at the same time, a teacher and an inspiration. She always asked, "What would you do?" Cindy was not only a colleague, but also a friend. I will miss her. I do know that her highest joy was to be your mother. My sympathies to you.

Joseph, I was a high school friend of your mother's and fondly remember her singing with three other classmates at school dances or talent shows. I remember this well because I was in a rival singing group of 4 girls. We were very intimidated by the self-assurance of your mom's group which no doubt she instilled in them. As I recall, we were both on the debating team in our senior year and frequently had classes together, went to the same parties, had the same circle of friends.
I don't think she ever came to a class reunion which was always a disappointment to me. She is one of the people I hoped to see whenever I attended one. I so wish that I had known she was in the Montclair area. One of my best friends from college lives there, and on one of my visits to her, I would have reached out to your mother to see if we could meet and catch up. A huge regret.
My condolences to you. Knowing Cindy, I can only imagine what a forceful and impassioned presence she was in your life.
