Obituary of Robert J. Torre
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert “Butch” Torre, 74, former resident of New Haven, West Haven and Mayor of Everywhere, passed suddenly in Maplewood, NJ, on January 13. He was born in New Haven on July 22, 1944, the son of the late Charles and Rose Ciccarelli Torre. Throughout his life he held a variety of jobs from milkman to formica installer, manager of his brother-in-law’s deli (Ritchie’s Deli, Milford) and most famously, sanitation driver for Latella Carting.
Butch had a zest for life. He loved reminiscing about the good old days, classic cars and radios and just chatting with family, friends or anyone who would listen. He leaves behind his wife Viola of 52 years, his daughter Leslie and her husband David, and twin grandchildren, Wyatt who inherited his gift of gab and Adeline who possesses his ability to make anything into an argument. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Olympia DeLucia.
A celebration of Butch’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, in the clubhouse located at Ocean View Condominiums 375 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven, 1-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, Butch would want to remind you to always have cash in your wallet and to get your oil changed (which his daughter still needs to do). We’ll catch you on the rebound, Butch.
