Joseph   Russo, 97 of Newark, passed away at his daughter’s home in Vernon, NJ on April 27, 2019. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Cathedral Basilica Of The Sacred Heart, 89 Ridge Street, Newark on Thursday, May 2nd  at 10:30 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange.  Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on  Wednesday, 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860  would be appreciated. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net

Joseph was a lifelong resident of Newark. He was a Cab Driver and Dispatcher for over 35 years with United Radio in Newark retiring in 1980. He was in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre as a Platoon Guide he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Joseph was predeceased by his wife  Laura  Lunsden Russo and two grandchildren. He is survived by his  children; Vincent Russo (Colleen), Alexis  Phalon (Jack) and Matthew  Russo (Stephanie), 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
