Obituary of Lenore F. McKenzie

Lenore F. McKenzie, 90, of Hightstown, N.J., formerly of Maplewood, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. 

A wake will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, from 3pm to 6pm at the Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3rd at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, N.J. 

Lenore was born in Newark and attended St. Aloysius Elementary School and St. Vincent’s Academy High School.  She worked for Bell Telephone and was an active volunteer at Our Lady of Sorrows parish for many years.  She especially loved volunteering in the school library.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

She was the daughter of the late Francis A. Flynn and Lenore (Walsh) Flynn and the sister of Marilyn (Flynn) Brecht. 

Lenore was married for 64 years to the late George McKenzie.  She is survived by her son, George (Skip) and wife Debbie of Annapolis, M.D., her daughter, Susan Kendrat and husband, Mark, of Long Valley, N.J. and her son, John and his wife, Montserrat of Cranbury, N.J.  She was the beloved grandmother of Catherine, Heather and Patrick McKenzie, Christopher and Jack Kendrat and Kieran, Aidan and Dylan McKenzie.
