Obituary of Donald E. Shauger

Donald E Shauger, 81, of Maplewood passed away Thursday June 20, 2019 in the comfort of his own home.

A memorial service will take place at The Jacob Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave in Maplewood in celebration of Donald’s life on Saturday July 20, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Interment was private. 

Donald was born in Chicago Illinois and attended the University of Chicago, graduating with a BA in Liberal Arts in 1963. He served faithfully in United States Army. After his service he moved back to Chicago to work for IBM. Later he worked as a textbook salesman for Prentice Hall as well as Harper & Row in Lawrence, Kansas. Harper & Row promoted him to editor, the family relocated to Maplewood where he commuted into NYC for work. Prior to his retirement in early 2019, he worked for over 25 years at the circulation department for The Star-Ledger newspaper. 

Donald was beloved by all who knew him. He continued to display strength and determination throughout his illness. He was able to fight with courage  to end with the love and care of his adored wife and family. 

Donald Shauger is survived by his devoted wife ( Barbara Mitchell Shauger). His loving children ( Scott, Aleta, Erik, and Kurt Shauger), and his cherished grandchildren (Alyssa, Jared, Ariana, Jacob, Karen, Joshua, William, and Matthew).  For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com.
