Obituary of Angelle R. Thompson

Angelle Thompson passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the age of 73. Angelle was born on August 8, 1946 in Kingston, Jamaica. She spent most of her life in Jamaica where she was very active in her church. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Kingston.

In 2005, Angelle moved to New Jersey to live with her daughter with whom she had a very close and loving relationship. Angelle was a devoted mother who instilled the importance of Christian values in her daughter. She always looked forward to attending church on Sundays with her daughter at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Millburn, NJ.

Angelle had a passion for travel and she travelled extensively. She was an avid gardener and member of the Springfield Garden Club in New Jersey. Angelle was very active in her community, volunteering at the Springfield Public Library and participating in various fundraising activities. Angelle had a great appreciation for the performing arts. She enjoyed attending musicals, plays and dance performances. Angelle also had other hobbies which included knitting and jewelry making.

Angelle was known for her warm and loving spirit. She made friends easily wherever she went and she maintained close relationships with her family members and friends, near and far. Angelle is survived by her daughter, Sherryl Gilfillian and her partner, Duane Hobson; her brother, Earl Thompson and his wife, Iselma Thompson; her niece, Cherine Thompson and many cousins. She will be deeply missed.
