Obituary of Martha C. Slack

Martha C. Slack, 56, a lifelong resident of  West Orange passed away on Tuesday November 19, 2019 at St. Barnabas Hospital. The family will be receiving friends at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Saturday, Nov 23d from 2:30 – 4:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 4 PM. Interment private.
Martha was born on February 23, 1963 in Orange, New Jersey to William and Corinne Slack. Ms. Slack is a graduate of Upsala College and worked as a Payroll Supervisor for the County of Essex for over 20 years.
Martha had a voracious appetite for the written word and was the proud member of the Essex County Book Club where she and her dear friends would critique and discuss their favorite books. In addition, Martha enjoyed cooking, baking delicious treats in particular, knitting, frequenting street fairs and antique stores, and also enjoyed travelling, never leaving her beloved dog Quincy behind. What gave Martha the most joy however, was being an Aunt to her amazing nephews, a role she truly cherished.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Corinne Slack and her sister Christine Slack. She is survived by her significant other David Simon, her sister Nancy Slack and her spouse Barbara Kaufman, her brother Bill Slack and his wife Jackie Slack, and her nephews Steven, Alexander and Brian.
